Under the auspices of President of Fayoum University Prof. Ahmed El Gohary, the Faculty and Leadership Development Center (FLDC) organized on Thursday 8/1/2008 a workshop entitled "Strategic Planning, Leadership and Management in Higher Education". The workshop was held at Hall of Faculty of Engineering Council and ran from 09.30 a.m. to 05.00 p.m.
The workshop was steered by Dr. Mohamed Atta, a professor at Ryerson University who got his master's and doctoral degrees from University of Waterloo in Canada. The workshop was attended by a number of deans and their vice-deans of various faculties.
The workshop highlighted the importance of strategic planning and leadership in higher education institutions, and how to manage the educational institution to achieve the desired progress and development.
Then, there was a discussion around how to lay the foundations of planning, set a development plan, and manage and implement it accurately and thoroughly. Besides, they tackled the specifications of selecting leaders, who should shoulder the burden of executing the plan.
At the end of the workshop, Prof. Mohamed El-Khaleely, Vice-President for Postgraduate Studies and Research gave Dr. Mohamed Atta the University Shield in recognition of his outstanding efforts in the workshop.
